We Take Our Environment Seriously
SCA asks for sustainable forest management certificates for each pulp shipment received that assure us the fibre we have sourced
comes from a certified forest. The majority of shipments received are certified.
SCA's Box Hill manufacturing facility achieved PEFC chain of custody certification in 2009. A chain of custody certification means
that there is an unbroken supply chain from the PEFC certified forest to the final product. For more information about PEFC go to
www.pefc.org
Where certification cannot be demonstrated, SCA requires its suppliers to demonstrate how they ensure compliance with the company's
requirement that none of the raw materials for these products come from controversial sources. Timber from controversial sources is
defined as:
- Illegally logged timber
- Timber from forests with a high conservation value
- Timber from areas where human rights or the rights of the indigenous population are violated
SCA's Commitment to the Environment
- Our 5 year plan is to ensure all fibre is from certified sources.
- Successful water, energy and materials conservation programs have been implemented and are ongoing.
- Our toilet paper is dispersible, biodegradable and suitable for all systems.
- Pulp is purified by oxygen and elemental chlorine free bleaching processes.
- All manufacturing wastepaper is reclaimed and recycled.
